Saxenda® (6 mg/mL) is a prescription injectable pen containing liraglutide, used daily for weight management in adults and teens (12+) with obesity or weight-related conditions. Each 3 mL pre-filled pen allows for variable dosing (0.6 mg to 3 mg). A single pen lasts 6 days when at the 3 mg maintenance dose.

Administration: Subcutaneous injection (under the skin) once daily, ideally in the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm.
Dosing Schedule: Start at 0.6 mg daily, increasing weekly by 0.6 mg until a 3 mg daily dose is achieved (0.6, 1.2, 1.8, 2.4, 3.0 mg).
Pen Capacity: Each 3 mL pen contains 18 mg of liraglutide, providing 6 doses at the highest 3 mg setting.
Pen Lifespan: A single pen lasts 17 days at start-up doses, reducing to 6 days at full 3 mg maintenance.
Common Side Effects: Nausea, diarrhea, constipation, vomiting, headache, fatigue, and low blood sugar (hypoglycemia).
Important Warnings: Not for individuals with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC).
